40年以上鹿児島県奄美大島の地で作陶を続けている野茶坊焼の陶芸家池波さんは、修業した地・スペインに感銘を受けて制作される赤色の釉薬が特徴的な窯元です。情熱的なスペインのイメージカラー『赤』を彷彿とさせる野茶坊焼独自の釉薬を使用した、ふんわりと奄美大島の赤土を包み込むような焼き上がりはぜひ手にとって楽しんでください。
Yachabo ware (Yachiboyaki) is the pottery from Amami Oshima,which is the largest island in the Amami archipelago between Kyūshū and Okinawa. (Administratively, Amami Oshima belongs to Kagoshima Prefecture.) Mr. Ikenami, the Yachaboyaki craft potter, has ever learned pottery work in Spain and got inspired by Spanish ceramics to develop his original design of Yachabo-ware. The representative vermillion colors of glaze is the characteristics of Yachabo-ware.
